We have one of those air purifiers that you have to change the filter on. It started making noise, even after cleaning the filter, so we quit using it for a while.
I got curious about it and cleaned out half a cat’s worth of hair from around the fan motor. Once I removed it and added a couple of drops of oil, it worked fine and without noise.
Guess it pays to be curious.
