I was all set to go outside and do some work in the yard when, two hours sooner than the weather forecast, I heard the sound of deep, deep thunder.
Looking at the sky, I saw the dark clouds gathering.
Figuring I had about twenty minutes before it hit I quickly pulled the lawnmower out of the storage building and set to work on the front yard.
I got one pass when the first drops hit.
I quickly put the lawnmower back into the storage building and made a mad dash for the door when the bottom fell out, getting completely soaked in the final fifteen feet.
Twenty minutes later the storm ended as abruptly as it started, but the damage was done. The yard looked like a small lake. I knew the lawn would have to wait.
And that is why the yard isn’t mowed and I’m sitting here playing computer games.
That’s my story, dear, and I’m sticking to it.
