Ever notice the weird way “Wednesday” is spelled? It’s the only word I know of where the letter “d” is silent.
The first “d,” anyway. Just try pronouncing the word “Wednesday” and include that first “d” and see how it sounds. It’s about impossible to pronounce!
Maybe it’s just me, but imagine if they all were silent! “Answer the oor, please,” or “I on’t air try that!” How about “I i’nt ance at the party last night.”
OK, this is going to keep me awake tonight.
