While at the grocery store I overheard a woman telling her small child “No!”
At least I thought she was telling her child “No!”
She said “No, Kate. You can’t have that. It isn’t good for you.”
“No, Kate. You don’t need that! You’re a big girl so just accept it.”
“No, Kate. Don’t throw a temper-tantrum. No means no!”
Kate seemed calm and not the least bit upset.
I stepped over to her and told her it looked like she was a good parent because Kate accepted her telling her no.
She gave me a strange look. “Her name is Karen. I’m Kate.”
That’s when I realized we were on the wine aisle.
